My research interest is the study of membrane protein structures associated with human diseases. Particularly, I have utilized NMR spectroscopy to determine protein structures at an atomic level. My postdoctoral research will be focusing on developing a method in tagging proteins with metals or nitroxide spin-labels in order to obtain long-range distance and using this as a restraint in Rosetta to refine protein structures.
I’m also interested in working to study protein-protein interactions on the transmembrane complexes DAP12 and TREM2. Mutations in DAP12 and TREM2 are associated with neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease. Using BCL docking and molecular dynamics simulations, I would like to gain insight into the atomic details of the key residues within the protein-protein interface and the molecular mechanism of signal activation.
